WordPress Goodness-My Must Have List for Plugins

1. Comment Luv If you are trying to get a lot of comments and build a great blog community this is the plugin for you.  You want to build a reciprocal relationship with your readers and show them some appreciation for their comments.  This plugin will put a link to the commenter’s latest post.

2. Featured Content Gallery If you look at the home page of my blog this is the plugin I use to create the slide show of my blog posts.  It was a small learning curve to learn how to do this but once you learn how to use it, it is easy.

3. Digg Digg Help your readers syndicate your content by using this plugin.  It gives you social vote buttons to use in your post.  You choose how to incorporate them into your blog.  I replaced my Tweetmeme and Facebookmeme with this plugin because I can set those both up from Digg Digg along with a few other popular social sites.

4. IFrame Embedder I use this plugin to incorporate PDF documents right onto my blog.  I am able to keep readers hanging around my blog to read the information I am offering.

5. Link within I really like this plugin, it displays other recommended posts on your blog with a thumbnail from the post.  You can download the plugin here-www.linkwithin.com.

6. Pretty Link If you do a lot of sharing of your content on social media sites this is a really nice plugin to have.  It shortens any URL and you can then track the clicks on it from your WordPress Blog.

7. Comment Redirect This plugin will redirect anyone who is a first time commenter on your blog to any page in your blog you choose.

8. Exclude Pages from Navigation I love to use this plugin with my autoresponder.  I can direct readers on my list back to my blog to read information without having the page in my main navigation.  I also like to use it by connecting my sidebar widgets to pages I would like people to visit.

9. Top Commentators  This is a nice plugin to encourage people to make repeat comments on your blog.  The top commentators on your blog are shown along with a link back to their blog.  So it is beneficial to both you and your top commentators.

10. Facebook Like This handy little plugin allows your readers to easily like your post on Facebook, easy for them and more exposure for you.

11. Tiny MCE Advanced If you are used to doing your word processing on Microsoft Word this is a nice plugin that gives you more advanced and similar choices to Word.

12. Thank me Later This plugin will send out a custom e-mail  to anyone who comments on your site.  A nice way to show your appreciate immediately for their comment.

13. Twitterlink comments  This is a plugin that sets up a link for you to follow the comment author on Twitter.  This is another great way to encourage more comments and build more Twitter friendships.

14. What would Seth Godin Do With this plugin you can set up a custom message to your new blog visitors and returning guests with different messages for each group.

15. Similar Posts A great plugin to encourage readers to stick around your blog and read posts that are similar to what they just read.

What plugins have you used that I did not mention here that you have found to be of value on WordPress?  Leave me a comment and let me know.

If you have friends or followers on your social media that would find this useful feel free to share this with them.

  1. Hi again, Angela!
Can you tell I’m a big WordPress fan? I like many of your favorite plug-ins but I would add two more: Akismet to block spam and Widget Logic to customize which widgets display on which pages or posts. Akismet catches so much spam I would they would work on my Outlook email. And Widget Logic is pure magic for making appropriate widgets appear on specific pages. Thanks for the great post, Allegra
