How to Be 1000% Better
So do you wonder how can you be 1000% better? Yes I said 1000% not 100%. It actually is much easier to do than you might think and you just need to start putting a few things into practice. This post is based on the 1000% formula by Brain Tracy that I recently discovered. So let’s dive into this and see how it works.
Brian explains that this is based on the “law of incremental improvement” where you get a little bit better everyday. If you become one tenth of one percent better each day by the end of the year you will be 26% more productive. Now overtime that increase in productivity really adds up. As Brian explains it, ”if you become 26% percent more productive each year, with compounding, amounts to doubling your overall productivity and performance every 2.7 years. If you become 26% more productive each year, with compounding, times 10 years, you will be 1004% more productive over the next decade. That is an increase of ten times over ten years.” How exciting is that?
Here is the list of things Brian Tracy suggests you do to improve everyday to become 1000% better in 10 years;
1. Get up 2 hours earlier than you have to be somewhere everyday. Spend the first hour reading something uplifting, educational or spiritual.
2. Make a to do list.
3. Organize the list by priorities.
4. Start on the most important task with single minded focus.
5. Listen to educational audio books in your car.
6. When you go to event or do a call ask yourself 2 questions.
-What did I do right in that situation?
-What would I do differently next time?
7. Treat everyone you meet like a million dollar customer.
Check out the Video from Brian Tracy with him in his own words on How to be 1000% Better. It really is a must watch video. It is so simple yet so effective and who does not want to learn to be 1000% better?
So what do you think? Are these strategies you think you could use? I would love to hear your comments.
If you think this will be valuable to others please feel free to share it.

Hi Angela,
Thanks for this post. I really need to work on points 2, 3 and 4! I like the idea of getting a little bit better each day, I know if I had to make drastic changes to my life in one go, I would shy away from them.
Thanks,
Vanessa

This was a great post! I must admit that I hadn’t really thought about it that .1% a day would equal 1004% in 10 years. Oh, the joys of compound interest.

I loved this video from Brian Tracy. I think spending time learning in the car is great, most of us spend so much time in our cars why not take advantage of that time to learn. Thanks for your comment!

Yeah, paying taxes on 1.4 million dollars would be a pretty hefty chunk of change. I really think he has a great strategy here though.

Angela,
Great strategies for becoming 1000% better. It’s amazing how by doing a lot of small things better, they end up compounding into a whole lot more… 1000% more to be exact!

Yes Angela that is a great way to look at it when maybe from one day to the next you’re not seeing the progress you would like but you’re still on track toward your goals. I have something to share with you about not overlooking the possibility of quantum leaps along the way. http://prosperyourmind.blog.com/2010/07/31/quantum-leap/
Thanks again for a great article,

I need to work on #1 ~ as a mom it’s quite a challenge. I already wake up 30 min. early to meditate and journal….hmmmm, sleep is pretty important to me!
I do love to read before bed….I could definitely do that more consistently.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing this great post, Angela!

I do most of those things but today I forgot to do my list. I ended up doing things that weren’t most important. Back on track tomorrow.

Hi Angela,
Brian Tracy is one of my favorites too! Isn’t it amazing that by doing the little IMPORTANT things each day, that over time this compounds & you grow as a person ~ you get a few months or years down the road of life and can be like, “Wow! I really accomplished (whatever it is that is important to you)” I appreciate you sharing

Hi Angela – great headline and post. I’ve been a follower of Brian Tracy for a long time – he’s responsible for some pretty creative labeling of of a multitude of ‘laws’!
What stands out with BT is that he simplifies and applies compelling logic to his teachings rather than the more energetic – celebrity style orators that have followed-maybe a bit less entertaining but imparts his wisdom clearly
Must admit to falling over badly on the very first point – I subscribe to the strategy of staying up 2 hours later than I need to- which is when I’m at my most productive – but what would I Know!!
Thanks for sharing

A good article. Makes me think. Not sure what I think yet. I mean … 1000% improvement … get real … but at the same time: the math does go up … And if the math is right … 1000% … almost impossible to belive. But a good idea.

Angela,
I have never heard this before even though I study personal development on a daily basis. This is powerful information!
I think for me, #4 is the most important. Sometimes we do the things we want to do or like to do rather than what is the most important thing to accomplish.
I really like the concept of treating your customers and people in your life importantly. So powerful. People just really want to be appreciated.
Thanks for this great post, Angela!!!

Hey Angela,
Once again you have provided some valuable advice which was very much needed for me to read right now! Continuous and never-ending improvement rather than getting stuck in a rut which is where I sem to have fallen of late. I have taken notes and already started tomorrow’s to-do list.
As I live in the country, about an hour and a half from the nearest city, I am always listening to educational and inspirational CDs to pass the time in my car. I can certainly vouch for Brian Tracy’s suggestion here – I find that when I reach my destination I am so much more fulfilled and enlightened.
Keep up the great work and thanks again for some wonderful tips.
