Avoid Wishing Your Life Away-
I think most of us have been guilty of this at one time or another. I can tell you that I have. We all have waited and wished for the next t in life that will really make us happy. Thinking things like, “I wish I was done with school, I wish I was married, I wish I had kids, I wish I liked my job, I wish I was more successful, and I wish I has more money.” This list can go on and on until you have wished your entire life away. I think when you do this you are missing out by becoming so preoccupied with that next thing that will make you happy. When you get there are you filled with contentment and joy or are you on to the next wish and that thing that will fulfill you? Do you forget to live in the moment and relish the smaller things in life? Do you really want to go through life missing out because you are too busy waiting for the next big thing?
So how can you avoid wishing your life away? Here are a few simple steps
Enjoy living in the present-
The present may not always be perfect as we all face hardships sometime in our life. Try to enjoy where you are in life and take the bad times as a learning experience. Here are a few examples of how you can apply this. So let’s say you are single and wishing you were in a relationship, try to enjoy being single and figure out what you need to learn to someday be a good partner. Learn all you can about yourself and be happy being single. Let’s say you are building a business and wishing you were a huge success right away, slow down and take time to enjoy the process. Be happy in all that you are learning and all that you are developing into. Everything is a process and if you want to go from step 1 to step 10 skipping the steps in the middle, you miss out.
Look for passions you can pursue in the present-
Look for activities or hobbies that you can enjoy right now. Fuel your passions and live in the present by finding things you like to do. Try out new things you think you might be interested in. Do you enjoy making food? Go try out a cooking class. Do you enjoy fitness? Try different types of exercise. Do you enjoy writing? Try creating a Blog. Get out and meet new people with your interests. All these things can help make your life more fulfilling and you a more well rounded person.
Learn to be grateful-
Live in gratitude for what you do have and every experience you go through, good or bad. Do not spend time or energy dwelling on what you do not have. As much as bad times, bad experiences and failure stink they can really help to build character in us. As they say, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” So if you can learn to be grateful it will help you be happier in the present and keep you from wishing your life away.
I really hope these things will help you to enjoy life in the here and now. Don’t miss out on all life has to offer. Life is way too quick to wish it away. Take it in, relish it and enjoy!
I appreciate you taking time to read this post if you think you know someone who would enjoy it please feel free to share it!

I love living life to the fullest and I am complete believer that life is what you make it. I love to empower and encourage others to go after their dreams. Why not? Life is too short not to enjoy it or go after what you want. |

Hey Angela,
I really like “learn to be grateful.” I think when we’re grateful we don’t get caught up in wishing out lives away because we are definitely looking at what’s right before us instead of what we wish we had.
Keep up the good work!

Hey Rodney! Thanks so much for your comment. I agree with you that we have to look at what we have instead of what we wish we have.

Definitely right on Angela!
The only way to truly enjoy your life is to live each and every moment as it occurs, not waiting for something down the road. This is a rough one to get sometimes, but once you can be there in the moment, you urstand that’s all there is and it’s great!
thanks for this today,
Val

Hey Val! Thanks for the reply, I agree 100% to live life in each and every moment it occurs. Life goes too fast to not savor everything.

Wow! Talk about perfect timing for this article! The Unified Tribe is really making a difference
I have been trying my best to live in the present over the past few weeks. I am enjoying every moment as much as I can. It is not necessary to dwell on the past or think about the future often because one is gone and will never come back while the other hasn’t happened yet.
We must all learn to enjoy every moment – not think about what happened or should of happened, or whatever.
I have also been writing in a gratitude journal on a daily basis for 1 year and about 4 days now. This has made an unbelievable positive difference in my life and i HIGHLY recommend everyone owns one!
