10 Reasons To Choose Network Marketing Over a Traditional Business

If you are looking for a business you have several choices, a traditional business, a franchise or a network marketing business. If you ask me owning your own business and being your own boss is the way to go. As one of my favorite authors and authorities in network marketing Jim Rohn says, “Profits are better than wages.” Not only that but working for yourself you get to be your own boss and give yourself the opportunity to live the life of freedom. I really want to talk today about why network marketing is a wise choice if you are looking for a business. Check out the 10 reaosn to choose network marketing as your business.
1. There is relatively little money required to get involved. Network marketing offers an affordable solution for people who want to start their own business. There are costs involved but in most network marketing companies you can get started relatively inexpensively. In a traditional business or franchise you will have to pay tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars to get started.
2. You can come from any background and find success in network marketing. You could have a background as a teacher, doctor, garbage man, retail worker, etc. and still be hugely successful. Your resume does not determine your success in network marketing, You determine your success. You choose how hard you want to work, what you are willing to do and what you are willing to learn and apply.
3. You choose the income you want and how hard you want to work. If you want to do the business part time and make supplimental income you can choose to do that or you can work full time on the business and make a more significant income.
4. You can start building your business part time so it is less risky. When you start your network marketing business you can start part time while working full time. If you only have 10-15 hours a week to work on your network marketing business you can definitely make it work. You just need to maximize your time when you are working fewer hours. In a traditional business you can’t do that, you will have to work long hours to make it work. I have heard of some business owners working 60-80 hours a week. Not only do traditional business owners work long hours many have taken huge risks to start that business.
5. There is no seniority, it is based on how hard you are willing to work. In network marketing you don’t have to wait for your chance to climb the ladder. You decide how far and fast you want to climb. You could surpass someone in the company in a week who has been there a year who has not worked as hard as you.
6. As your business grows you can choose to work less. The longer your are in your network marketing business the more money you will be making and the less effort you will have to put in. That is one of the great advantages of choosing network marketing as your choice for business.
7. It is an industry that is growing despite a struggling economy. Network marketing is booming even though a lot of businesses are failing. People are more willing to explore network marketing as a way to make additional income when times are tough. People see this as a great source of a second or replacement income since they can work at home.
8. You can choose who you work with. In a job you don’t get to choose your co-workers or your boss. In a network marketing company you can choose who you bring on to your team. You can find people who you have a rapport with, who have a good work ethic and people who are willing to learn and grow.
9. A Network Marketing business grows exponentially. In Network Marketing you really leverage hours. Say you put 10 hours and you find 10 downline team members to put in 10 hours you have just got 100 hours of work. I would say that is a pretty sweet deal.
10. In this business you have teammates not competitors. In traditional business you are competing against other businesses. There really is no collaboration or sharing ideas. In network marketing you will find a very different atmosphere. People help each other succeed. You will even find even network marketers in other companies are willing to work with you and share ideas.
I would love to hear what you think about this. What do you think are other benefits of network marketing versus a traditional business? If I don’t have something that would be a good fit for you I network with people in various companies that I would be happy to connect you with.

Hi Angela,
I think you have hit most nails on the head about the benefits to network marketing. I feel it is possibly the most sensible business model for many ‘would be’ entrepreneurs, as it, as you say, is relatively inexpensive to get going and there are leaders, such as yourself, who are willing to share all that they know to help anyone looking to succeed.
A whole different business community in my eyes. The TSA is a perfect example!
Thanks for the great info

I wrote a similar one on my blog, I think Kiyosaki sums it up so well with “Why would someone work so hard on something they will never own”
Great job!

Hey Ray! Kiyosaki has so many great things to share. So true, you can be a slave to the grind where you most likely will never get rich or you can start working for yourself and have the potential to make an amazing income if you are willing to put in the work. Thanks for you comment!

Hi Angie,
powerful post, thanks for sharing important reasons.
What I love about building a business in general compared to the corporate world is that there’s no such thing as a glass ceiling. That holds especially true in network marketing, and very especially on the internet.
Everybody can become successful, regardless of gender, age, colour, political and religious beliefs.
Take care

Hey Oliver! That is an amazing part about this business is there is no glass ceiling and anyone can do it regardless of background. Thanks so much for your comment!

Angie, there is almost no down side to Network Marketing. Of course you can choose some lame MLM to start with, but even then you can make some income. I appreciate your positive outlook and willingness to help others. Great advice on this post today. Thanks a bunch.

Hey there Angela,
If I could choose one word to describe your article it would be that Network Marketing provides you with “Leverage”.
Nothing could be more powerful in the long run.

YES! Leverage is a great word for what being in business for yourself in network marketing provides. That is VERY powerful. Thanks for your comment!

Hi Angela,
I chose network marketing for all of the reasons that you cited, the most compelling being that you can achieve success while coming from any background. It’s the epitome of an equal opportunity where the only limitations are those that are self imposed.
You said it all, Angela. Great post.

Hi Angela,
Those are all great points. By the way they also hold true for most other types of internet marketing. I am thankful for that, because network marketing is not my cup of tea. Thanks to the low barrier to entry I got in and will not look back.

Hey Karin! You are right! I should have included internet marketing as well because these same points are valid when you choose to go that route. Thanks for your comment!

Yes yes yes Angela! Those are some of the best points ever in why people should get involved in network marketing. I think Robert Kiyosaki’s book “the Business of the 21st Century” is a very good book to read about this subject. Course we still get the people who look at us like we’re psycho for getting involved but hey, at least we don’t have to work 9-5 everyday if we don’t want to right?

I can certainly agree with each point that you made in your article. I honestly don’t know of many other reasons that people get involved, except perhaps the opportunity for growth toward leadership. MLM is one of the best places to get an education in leadership that I know of.

Hi Angela, I just read a blog post that stated that 98% of people who try their luck in network marketing fail. Making it easy to enter this market, may be a disadvantage. It does not take much resolve to get started, but it does take a lot to make it a success. I am starting to think that the low barrier to entry is a negative, rather than a positive as you have listed it. What do you think?

I think the low barrier to entry can be a negative, it depends on the person. If someone wants to own their own business I think getting into Network Marketing is an inexpensive route. If someone wants in because it is cheap but they are not willing to put in the work it takes it is a negative.

Angela,
I’ve worked in traditional business, owned a franchise and do network marketing. Even with all the misconception over Network Marketing, it clearly is a business opporturnity for people. You point out some very good reasons. You do have to put the work into it, like any business but the rewards far out weigh the effort.

Angela,
Great list to keep things in perspective! I’m amazed by the number of people that will go to huge lengths to get funding to start a traditional franchise, but won’t even take a second glance at network marketing. Like Eric Worre says, “It’s a stone cold fact, we have a better way.”
And we do!
