4 Things You need to Live a Successful Life
While there are many components to living a successful life, there are few major things that can make all the difference between living a life of success and a life filled with mediocrity or failure.
I wanted to share with you the 4 things that stand out as the biggest keys to a successful life.
Be disciplined- I think is by far and away the most important of the 4 I have listed. If you want success with anything you do in life you have to be disciplined. If you want to lose weight you need to be disciplined in exercise and eating right. If you want to do well in a business you need to have discipline to put in the work. As one of my favorite authors, Jim Rohn puts it, “We all must suffer 2 pains. The pain of regret or the pain of discipline. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.”
Learn gratitude and how to be happy- I believe you live a far more successful life when you learn how to live in gratitude and learn how to be happy. When you live a life filled with gratitude and happiness you learn to celebrate even the smallest blessings in life. Another one of my favorite authors, Brian Tracy puts it this way, “Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.”
-Brian Tracy
Live life to the fullest- I believe successful people live life to the fullest by learning to live well. Living well means you need to make the most of what you have. To live life to the fullest means not getting wrapped up in the past, worrying about what will happen in the future and learning how to overcome failure.
Learn how to navigate change- Change can be a tough thing for some people to deal with but it is something you need to embrace. In order to find success you need to be adaptable in a variety of situations. It seems in today’s world this is especially true as technology has so rapidly changed us and the way we live our lives. We need to be on our toes and willing to adapt to change.
These are the 4 things that I see a large portion of successful people focused on to live a successful life. I would love to hear what other small things you do that contribute to your success. Leave a comment below and share those things with me.

Angela,
Love your list of things to do for a successful life. Totally agree with your choices here. Living life to the fullest and enjoying the journey are top contenders for me. But learning how to handle and navigate changes is also so important. OK, I cannot say one over the other – all are great!
Have an awesome day,

Angela,
Very good 4 points to be successful!
I do seriously believe self growth is with these points will help achieve success.
Also, add to this recipe confidence, resilience, knowledge, self control, patience, kindness and charity,
then you might as well decorate your heart with dollar signs.
Because the secret to success is giving your heart first, to truly care for others.
“Be a leader – with a servants heart”
Success will follow.

Hey Angela,
Those were very good tips on how to live a successful and happy life. I really liked that Jim Rohn quote about the 2 pains in life. “The pain of regret or the pain of discipline. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons” That is perfect thinking!
I think the one of the things I would add to the list is to do exercise everyday which I think goes along with living life to the fullest. If you don’t have your health and you don’t feel good about yourself living life can get hard.
Thanks for the tips Angela!

Hi Angela,
I absolutely agree with you that discipline is the most important of the four, while gratitude almost is just as important. Being grateful for everything we have, especially for the little things will bring us so much closer to happiness. (The quote by Brian Tracy that you mentioned above is one of my favorites.)
Thanks for sharing your insights!

Hi Angela.
Thanks for the post, enjoyable reading. The points you have noted are very good & will make a difference in one’s life. “Discipline” reminds me of school. Personally I would use “Persistence” in it’s place, just as tough to achieve as “Discipline” but feels less painful – just a thought.
Be good to yourself

I like all 4 categories that you discuss when you want to live a successful life. There is one that has always stood out for me and that is change. If you want to be successful you not only should get used to change, but you should initiate it. If you think about it, without change there is no progress, and without progress you will not get closer to your goal of being successful. So, change is important. And if you institute the change, you are working as a true leader, which means you are another step closer to success.

Navigating change is a big one but the biggest thing for me right now is learning to just let things happen and being in the flow. I think things get done at exactly the right time. People come into your life at exactly the right time. So why stress over them? Everything happens at exactly the right time anyway. Anxiety just makes things ‘anxious’

Angela,
Great post. Think my favorites are appreciation and navigating change. Life is nothing if not change and if we can’t cope with it, we’re not going to be happy a lot of the time. That’s really the work I do with my relationship coaching clients, learning to appreciate each other and coping as a partnership with change.

Hi Angela ~ Believe it or not, for me, the easiest of the four steps you mention is #4 “Learn How to Navigate Change”! I’ve always been very comfortable with change, and in fact, tend to start slowing down if I don’t experience trying something different/new on a regular basis. And, since I mentioned the easiest of steps, it’s probably only fair that I also mention the most difficult for me, which is to “Be Disciplined”. Although the most difficult to master, it is by far the one that seems to get me further down the road on my journey, so one that I am a big fan of

Hi Angela ~ I would also have to say that “change” is probably the easiest for me. Discipline without a doubt would be the toughest. But I also have to say that I have found that I get the best results when I am consistent.
Thank you for sharing this great post!

Number 4 is one I sometimes get hung up on. Change can be scary if we get too comfortable where we are. Change keeps us growing.

Awwww, such an inspiring post!
All 4 tips are extremely helpful!
I start every day with my gratitude journal. I write down the top 10 things I’m thankful for. I have found that this sets the pace for the rest of the day! I LOVE that Brian Tracy quote too!
In this world that is evolving so rapidly, embracing and navigating change as you beautifully mentioned, is so critically important!

Wow, Angela! You’ve hit on all the key points to success here — discipline, gratitude, drive and change. if we could all master these 4 areas we would be unstoppable!
I find that trying to incorporate these mindsets into your life comes down to your philosophy in life — are you a “glass half empty or glass half full” kind of person? The great news is that your philosophy can be build and changed over time, if one continues to improve himself.
Thanks for the inspirational thoughts, Angela!

Great tips, it is amazing how many people out there don’t follow these basic tips. Then they wonder why they can’t move up. I think having discipline is the most important thing listed.
