How To Make Your Personal Brand Shine
Learning to build your personal brand is an affective way to attract people to you to build your business. If your personal brand shines people are going to naturally gravitate to you and want to know what you are about.
Make sure you are doing what you are passionate about: When you are following your passion it will show in what you are doing. When you have enthusiasm it shines through and when you don’t it is easy to tell you are faking it.
Try to be consistent across your social media sites: When you are building your brand you want to people to know and recognize you. If you use the same photo and similar design across all your sites people will start to recognize your brand.
Be Yourself: When you are putting yourself out there you will find people who like and identify with you. If you try to be someone your not it is unnatural and it will seem forced. People will see right through that. You will find when you are genuine you will form a lot more connections and reach more people. If you are trying to figure out who you identify with think about your life. What are your hobbies and what you enjoy doing? Are you a parent, animal lover, gardener, traveler, etc? Add things about yourself and your life to your blog and social media.
Focus on what makes you unique and what you are good at: Build your brand around what you are good at and what makes you unique. What do you have to give that would make people want to pay attention to you or join your company? Remember there are a lot of people out there doing the same thing so you need to focus on things that make you stand out.
Give as much value as you can: In building your brand avoid spam at all costs and use the 3 E’s a much as possible to give value. Education, entertainment and enlightenment. Think about the things you needed when you were building your brand that you now know how to do. Share those things with people. You will start building a great brand when you are giving people valuable information that helps them out.
What it comes down to is people buy from people they like, know and trust. Give people what they want, make it easy for people to find you, be a magnet and instead of selling you will be Shining.
What do you do to make your personal brand shine? Leave a comment and share with me your tips and tricks.

Angela,
What a great and value packed post. You sure practice what you teach!
What I liked best about your post was your instruction to pick an area that you are passionate about and use that to develop your brand. You are so right that people can hear, see and feel your enthusiasm in all your content. When it’s not there, it is obvious to people and they therefore don’t connect, at the best level or at all. It is also so much fun and easy to focus and share what makes you passionate. Loving what you do is found in what we are passionate about.
Your passion for your topic here came through loud and clear! Great job!

Hey Peter! I like how you tell people to look in the mirror and tell their story. You really have to be genuine and everyone has a story to tell. You just need to figure out how to package it and you’ve got your brand.

The 3 E’s I love it!
I hope you don’t mind if I toss that up on my Fan page. To often we are so eager to tell other people about who we are or what we do we forget that nobody cares about what we are doing as much as we do.
All of our interactions online must be in the service of others.
That one nugget I got from you made my day. Thanks so much!
Have a wonderful week!

I am always trying to reign myself back in and stay focused on my brand. I do personal branding consults for others, but sometimes I still need input from others for myself. I have a marketing friend who I meet with almost weekly and we both are helping each other with our brand definition. This has been really good to get an outside look at it. Thanks for sharing this, it is definitely something I will share because it reflects my brand. Thanks for being YOU, Angela.

Those are all wonderful tips for creating your best personal brand! I love the whole idea of personal branding and truly believe that it is THE most powerful way to live your life by design in today’s world.
It’s time we start thinking along the lines of the Information Age, instead of the Industrial Age.
Thanks for sharing!

I like how you used a good measure of common sense in your message and then wrapped it up in the 3 E’s for me to take with me, like a goodie bag after a party.

Hey Angela,
Great post!! I think the most important thing is to be yourself! People do see right through ‘acting’ and ‘fake’ personalities. It all comes down to building relationships and you have to be real in order to build genuine relationships. I agree with the comments above also … you definitely SHINE Ang!!

Great advice Angela! For me the big lesson I learned the hard way (is there any other way?) was to keep my profiles up to date. In my enthusiasm to spread the word (and my name) at one point I had dozens of profiles set up and to this day I may have some that I’ve lost track of. That wasn’t the problem, the problem was that I w as that early on I was still fine tuning my niche and message and so I’d periodically update it – but not everywhere. Oh duh! Finally took a weekend to update all my profiles and now I have a clickable list so any time I need to make an update or revision of any kind I can easily do that. I also signed up for a service called BrandYourself to monitor my name on Google and at my social media sites. It takes a while to get a workable system, but it’s really worth the effort. Thanks for the inspiration!
