Network Marketing and Twitter

Tips for Network Marketing and Twitter

“Start from wherever you are, and with whatever you’ve got” – Jim Rohn.

Building a large network marketing team and a large Twitter following are two rather similar pursuits. You have to build a large group of people who find you worth following. That is how you define popularity on Twitter and how you define success in network marketing, and interestingly popularity on Twitter can lead to success in network marketing!

As recruiting is all about reaching more of the right kind of person, and as Twitter now boasts millions of members, it is no longer something you can put off or ignore. Twitter is incredibly popular, the growth rate is exponential, and it’s here to stay.

The same principles apply to both network marketing and twitter success. You have to be someone worth following. You have to be an attractive personality. You have to have good tips and advice. Be both interested and interesting, and don’t just be “all about the business”. Just like in normal life, always taking about your business is boring and selfish. You’ve got to be more than your business opportunity – just be yourself!

There are thousands and thousands of your ideal prospects on Twitter, and you can reach them all. Just follow the simple advice in this article and you’ll be well on your way to regular online recruiting, with just 5 minutes ‘tweeting’ per day!

Growing in Network Marketing and Twitter by finding the right people-

1. search.twitter.com :: Twitter has their own search engine for finding the latest ‘Tweets’ on whatever keyword you type in. The Twitter search engine is great if you want to see what people are saying RIGHT NOW about a particular topic. Just type in Network Marketing or debt or hate my boss or hate my job, or anything related to your business, and see who wrote what in the last few seconds. This tool is excellent for finding people perfect for your business right when they are in a mood to do something about it.

2. The Followers of Big Names In Your Niche :: One of the great things about Twitter’s simplicity is the ease at which you can see who is following who, and how popular someone is. This means you can find a very popular person who reaches your target market (be it Mike Dillard for your recruiting, or a “health nut” for selling your products, etc) and effectively “steal” their followers! You simply click to see who is following them (i.e. who finds them interesting) and add them one by one. You can build your own audience by cleverly finding relevant people using search.twitter.com and following their followers using this method. This is a very simple method for network marketing and twitter success!

3. Google :: You can’t possibly talk about searching online without mentioning Google, the King of Search. Google is very focused on indexing Twitter in its database, with Google monitoring so much of the site on a regular basis that your posts show up in the Google index often within a matter of hours. Using Google to find people on Twitter is slightly different than using search.twitter.com because Google won’t just show you the most recent results. Google will show you what it thinks are the most important mentions of your keyword or phrase on the whole of Twitter. You can search just twitter.com using Google by entering in your search term like this – site:twitter.com keywords

4. Let Them Find You :: It is very important you present yourself in a way that makes others want to know more about you. Use relevant keywords in your posts to show up in the Twitter search results, but don’t forget that your audience is not search robots. You need to be attractive to the people you are trying to attract. You want them to see your profile and think that you look interesting!  Attracting people to you is a very powerful method both in network marketing and Twitter.

Twitter is an excellent social networking tool, and by applying these simple tips you can turn it into an excellent recruiting tool.

Why it is So Stinking Easy to Stand Out on Twitter

Simple Ways to Stand Out on Twitter

Whether you are a Twitter lover or hater one thing is for sure, this is one social network where it is easy to stand out.  The reason that it is so easy to stand out is there is a lot of spam and noise on Twitter.  There are people who are there to only talk and not listen but I don’t think that is the way to make your name known on Twitter.  Unless you are some guru or someone famous it is very hard to stand out without interacting on Twitter.  If you are on Twitter just to use it as a big megaphone to push your products or an advertising platform I think you are missing a big opportunity.   Here are some easy ways you can avoid being part of the noise and stand out with your Twitter page.

Stand out on Twitter with your Direct Message

I would say that 90% of the direct messages I get on Twitter send me directly to a sales link, a lead capture page or a website.   I will tell you that 99.9% of the time I will not go to that page or website.  If I don’t know you and the first interaction we have is you trying to send me somewhere to buy something  it is just like all the other spam and noise on Twitter and I completely overlook you.  I have no clue as to whether I can trust you or your link when we have had no interaction.  Now if in your direct message you send me something that starts a conversation like a question or a personal note you easily stand out to me and I will interact with you.   If we chat a couple times and start building a connection I am likely to either find out what you are all about and visit your page on my own or very likely to check out something you send me in the future.

Stand Out on Twitter with Your Tweets and Retweets

Similar to direct messages if all you are posting is links to sales pages or websites it is hard to stand out.   How on earth can you stand out and grab attention if all your doing is what so many other people are doing?  I think links are fine interspersed with your Tweets but I would not make it the majority of the Tweets you send out.  To stand out on Twitter here are some things I think make good tweets.  I think sharing short, helpful tweets in your niche is perfect.  Short tweets are easiest for people to retweet so they don’t have to edit it down to share it.   Ask some questions or talk about current events to engage people.  Look for  people sharing good Tweets in your niche and both retweet them and interact with them.  I know people retweeting and having a conversation with me makes me stand up and pay attention to them.

While there are millions of people on Twitter and lots of noise it really is not that hard to stand out from the crowd.    It really is so stinking easy to stand out on Twitter by becoming someone who listens and interacts with people.

The Top Twitter Tools For Network Marketers

The Top Twitter Tools For Network Marketers

“Give us the tools and we will finish the job!” – Winston Churchill

Twitter is a great tool to find not only customers but leads for your business. You definitely are going to find the most success when you interact with people and start building relationships on Twitter not just using it to post links. To maximize your Twitter account and have more time to get personal with people there are some tools that will help you maximize your account.

Take time to explore these tools. Some are paid, most are free, most are clever, some are useless.

There are tools for ‘tweeting’ your blog posts, automating messages, automatically following people, tweeting your photos and videos, tweeting your location, posting news, giving stats, researching people, searching tweets, almost anything you can likely think of!

Here are 5 free tools you will find useful when it helping you bu
1. Bit.ly : www.Bit.ly is the tool Twitter officially uses to shorten every link you post, to make links fit in the short Tweets easily. If you join Bit.ly yourself, however, you can shorten your own links and track how many clicks you get. Everyone on Twitter notices no difference, but you get a nice dashboard containing all your stats. This let’s you to see which kind of tweets are the most effective, allowing you to focus more on those. For example you might find your witty posts get more clicks than your “BREAKING NEWS!” posts.

2. SocialOomph : SocialOomph.com is the best suite of automated Twitter tools you can find for free. SocialOomph, previously named TweetLater, allows you to schedule Twitter posts for future dates and even recurring events. For example: You could set up the next 12 months of Twitter messages, 5 a day perhaps, and let the system post them at the specified times. You can also set it to post things like your “Merry Christmas!” message every year on December 25th, and you never have to think about it again.

3. TwitterFeed : If you have a blog of any kind, or a flickr account, or social bookmarking account, or anything you update periodically, then you likely have an RSS feed that you can publish on Twitter. An RSS feed is just a tech term for the latest posts you publish online somewhere. RSS means your latest additions can be extracted and posted or linked to elsewhere on the web. TwitterFeed.com can take your blog address and automatically publish all future blog posts you write to your Twitter profile. Within about 30 minutes of publishing an article on your blog your Twitter followers will know about it. This is another way to fill your Twitter profile without having to actually do any extra work.

4. TwitBacks : TwitBacks.com is the one tool out of these 5 that will have an immediate affect on your Twitter branding and make you stand out, which is of course essential for getting followers in the first place. You can put a larger photo of you, along with your web links and contact info, down the left side of the image, and set the colors for the rest of it to match your website. As you want your Twitter profile to stand out and grab the attention of other users it is important to customize everything about it you can. A custom background from TwitBacks.com is the highest quality background you can make, very quickly, and for free.  If you want something even more custom I design Twitter backgrounds for people that will match your brand.  Learn more about my design service here.

5. A Mobile Twitter Client :Whether you use a BlackBerry, an iPhone, or just a regular phone, it is important to set it up with Twitter so you can post on the go. There are dozens of apps for the iPhone in the app store, TwitterBerry and UberTwitter for the BlackBerry, and SMS updates and the mobile webpage version for standard phones. Being able to tweet when you are out in the real world [for example: "Just going into a meeting with a client!"] will help to show you as professional and approachable.

A Tool to Get Massive Buzz For Your Ebooks or Products

I have recently found a great tool that I love to get mass exposure to my ebooks and products. If you are looking to create a big buzz for a product you created this is definitely worth looking into.

The product is called pay with a Tweet and the name really says it all. Basically people are granted access to your product or service for the price of a Tweet. Once they tweet about your product they are allowed to download it. It is a win win because if you are offering a product of value they get it for free simply by Tweeting about it and you get more exposure for your product.

This is a short video the company put together that explains how it works.

Twitter Is About Quality of Followers Not Quantity

Twitter Is About Quality of Followers Not Quantity

Why quality followers on Twitter are important- Quality is something you want to focus on much more than quantity.  You could have a large following without quality followers and that is not going to get you very far.   If you have a lot of followers who don’t pay attention to you or what you have to say you are spinning your wheels.  You want quality followers  in your niche who you can build relationships with, who will list you and who care about what you tweet.

How do you find quality followers on Twitter-  There are a few tools I use to find quality people in my niche.  They are each great tools with something different to offer so you might want to check them out and see if they fit your needs.

Tweet Adder- Tweet adder is a great way to find people in your niche on autopilot.  It makes it extremely easy to find who you are looking for and follow them.  You can search for people by what they have listed in their profile, what they tweet about or even their location.  Then you can save those people so that Tweet Adder will follow them automatically for you.  This is such a great way to find laser targeted quality followers.  Tweet adder does the hard work for you and all you have to do is start interacting with them to build relationships.     Tweet adder is something you have to pay for but if  you use Twitter to build your business it is well worth it.

search.twitter.com- This is a manual way to go and find quality followers in your niche.  This is more time consuming because you are going through each person one by one but still a great way to find quality people on Twitter.   This site is extremely easy to use.  You just go to the site and enter whatever keyword you are searching for.  It will list everyone who has tweeted using that keyword, along with their tweets.  From there you can retweet them or go check them out and see if you want to follow them.

We Follow- We Follow is almost like the yellow pages of Twitter.  You can list yourself using your city and interests which makes it easy for people to find you and makes it easy for you to find quality people you want to follow.  So to find quality people to follow on this site all you do is search for keywords in your niche and bingo you have new great people to start interacting with.

So these are some great tools to help you find quality followers but it is really up to you to develop quality relationships with your followers.  A few ways to do that are be sure you are interacting with people, retweeting people’s content, posting quality information and using hashtags so quality followers can find you.

I would love to hear what you think, do you have other methods to find quality followers on Twitter.  Leave me a comment and let me know.

How to Grab Attention on Twitter to Build Your Network Marketing Business

How to Grab Attention on Twitter to Build Your Network Marketing Business

“Once you have paid the price to establish yourself as an expert, a person of integrity who delivers high-quality results on time, you get to reap the benefits for the rest of your life.” – Jack Canfield

Attention is the single most important thing for any business. Period.

It’s the most essential ingredient for any business success. If you can get and keep the attention of others you can apply yourself to ANYTHING and still make money. If you learn the skills necessary for earning attention you can watch your MLM profits rise.

Remember: They wouldn’t call it PAYING attention if you didn’t have to earn it.

Twitter is a gigantic mess of billions of short messages, written by millions of people. At first glance it seems hard to hold anyone’s attention for longer than a couple of seconds when there are this many ‘Tweets’ floating round. But there are some very simple ways of getting yourself out there and grabbing the attention of others.

Here are some ways:

1. Be ReTweetable :A ReTweet is when someone forwards something you wrote on to their followers. Your @username is included, along with ‘RT’ so people know it came from you. If someone retweets something you posted you get instant exposure to all of their followers. This is an excellent way to get more followers for yourself. Inspirational quotes often get retweeted, as do wise or witty words of your own.

2. Send Welcome Direct Messages : On Twitter a Direct Message (DM) is kind of like an email. It’s private and aimed only at one person, and you can only send each other a DM when you both follow each other. This is a great way to introduce yourself and welcome your new followers.

3. Pay Attention to SEO : Google is very focused on indexing as many Twitter posts as it can, and it’s doing a very good job so far. Right now a message you post on Twitter can be indexed in Google’s search results in a matter of hours, sometimes even faster! It pays to research some long tail key phrases every now and again to help your profile get found in search results. Also consider what people might search for using the Twitter Search feature, but don’t let your SEO thinking adversely affect your relationship with your followers. You don’t want to drive followers away by posting junk.

4. Riding The Hashtags : A #hashtag is a method, created by the Twitter community, of grouping Tweets into categories. A hashtag is a word preceded by a hash, like #this or #that. The currently most popular hashtags are linked to on the right of twitter.com for everyone logged in, under ‘Trending Topics’. If you participate in the group discussion by using the popular #hashtag you can get exposure to many, which can get you more followers. The key is to do it legitimately and honestly. Contribute to the discussion, and add some insight and maybe humor to the mix.

5. Your Bio : After registering with Twitter the first thing you should do is upload a profile picture and fill in your bio. Nothing screams “DON’T FOLLOW ME!” like an empty bio and pic. Fill in every space available for your bio – website, location, name, about you, etc. In addition to filling out your About Me box a link to your main website or blog will provide more information about you. It will show your personality in a more detailed way than the short bio in your Twitter profile. Make sure your About Me box is about you and not your opportunity.

6. Custom Background Image : Getting someone to look at your Twitter profile is quite an achievement when you consider how there are over 20 million other users. It’s your ability to grab attention that got them there! You want to make your profile page as attractive as you can, telling as much about you as possible, and you can largely do this with a unique background image. You can use simple colors, sure, but an image that has a larger image of you or images related to your niche is going to be far more effective. I put together a post and video on how to create and upload a design to the new Twitter along with a swipe file.  Grab the post on Twitter Design here.

Grabbing the attention of potential recruits on Twitter is also about giving attention. If you comment on people’s links, and Retweet posts, and answer people’s questions, you are going to build a following of friends and fans. And friends and fans turn into customers and leads.

I would love to hear your comments on how you have grabbed attention on Twitter if I have not mentioned it hear and how you use Twitter to build your business. Leave me a comment below.

How to Use Twitter to Build Your Network Marketing Business

Twitter is an amazing social media tool you can use to build your business for free. Not only that but you can so easily meet and build relationships with people who have the same interests as you or who are in your target niche. The best thing is this is all happening now, so if someone is talking about something relating to your interests or business you can connect and start forming a relationship in an instant.

In our world today things change fast and technology is rapidly evolving. Myspace was the big social media hangout not so long ago but you don’t hear about it much anymore. Twitter may not be one of the big sites a few years down the road either, who knows. But if you learn how to use social media correctly you can apply the same principles to any social media site. So easy pointers on the best ways to use Twitter for your business , how I get followers, how I find people to follow, and a few tools that I use to help make it all easier.

1. People are going to want to buy from you and do business with you if they like, know and trust you.  I myself am far more likely to do business with someone who has earned my respect and trust and has given me value.   I just don’t  buy from a random link from someone I do not know.
2.People are on Twitter to socialize and meet people, they are not there to be sold to.  If someone mentions a product from your company don’t bombard them with something like, “Hey, I see you like so and so product you should join my company, we have the best compensation plan, blah, blah ,blah.”  If you lead with something like that you are not going to earn much credibility.  Instead maybe take a moment and look at the profile of the person that mentioned your companies product and strike up a conversation with them.  Show interest in them, one of my favorite quotes is by Dale Carnegy and he says, “You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.”
3.Think of yourself as a brand and how you want to represent yourself.   Send out Tweets that support that brand.  So share your own personality, use quotes, share valuable information centered around who you are, retweet other people who talk about things related to your brand, connect with people who might be interested in the types of things that are part of your brand, write your bio to support who you are and what your brand is.
4. Work to provide useful helpful content to people.  People will gravitate to you if you are sharing content that helps them and they find of value.  Especially if you are good at consistently providing value.  If you are just sharing links to your products you are probably not going to gain much credibility.
5.Try to stand out from the crowd.   Have a photo of yourself so people see who they are connecting with.  Don’t use the standard Twitter background, either design your own or search google for “Twitter Background” and you will be able to find tons of great backgrounds you can use.
6. Work to grow your following.  The larger your Twitter network is the more “social proof” you have that you are actually have something good to say and are worth following.  The more followers you have the more people you have to interact with and start forming relationships with.  Just don’t follow too many people at once.  I would suggest 50-100 people a day.  If you are working to build your Twitter account you don’t want to get your account taken away by following too many people at once.

So those are some great ways to use Twitter, here are some ways to get people to follow you.

1.Besides adding value and interacting you can get people to follow you based on the keywords you use in your Tweets. So if you are sharing something about fitness you can use a hash tag with the word fitness  and people searching for that word will see you and your tweet. A hash tag is the pound symbol with the word you are targeting.  So for example after your tweet you would put #fitness.
2. Add yourself to twitter directories for the search terms you want to be found for. The one I use is called We follow and I just add myself with the keywords I want to use.  There are many others out there so be sure to look for Twitter directories that you can add yourself to.

You are also going to want to know how to find people that are in your niche or Target Market, here are some ways to do that.
1. The first thing I do when I try to find followers is to think about finding people who can help me to improve my skills, people who are interested in my niche and target market, and people who have similar interest to me because those are all people that I can connect with.  When I have that figured out I go to search.twitter.com and search for keywords relating to those things and people who are Tweeting about those things.  Those are the people I follow and connect with.
2.   Another similar thing to do is find leaders in your niche or market, figure out who is following them and add their followers to the list of people you follow.
3.Another great way to find people is to use a website called tweepsearch.com . With this website you can search for a keyword and it will bring up a list of people who have used that word in their bio.

There are a couple tools I use that help to make Twitter so much easier for me.
1. The first tool is called www.socialoomph.com.  I have found this to be a huge time saver for me, I collect interesting quotes, and articles and save them in a Word document. Then when I have a block of time I go to my socialoomph account and I upload the tweets I want to share and set them up to go out at certain times of day, the highest traffic times on Twitter.  This way I always have new useful content coming out and it frees up more time to interact with people.
2. The second tool I use is called www.hootsuite.com.  I am on here daily and have it up most all the time, running in the background if I am doing something else.  On this site you can watch everything that is going on with your Twitter account. You can monitor people who are retweeting your tweets, people who have mentioned you, you can see all the direct messages people have sent you, then you can also set up columns to monitor either people you follow or people who are talking about certain keywords you are looking for.   I have columns for several of my Twitter lists as well as keywords I like to monitor.   This tool makes it very simple to interact and watch what is going on.
3. The third tool I just found out about recently but it is awesome. It is called www.Noteleaf.comand this tool allows you to take notes on anyone you talk to on social media, email or anywhere else online. You can enter their name and take notes about them and you can also set up times to follow up with them.  It is a great tool if you have a hard time remembering people you talked to or just want to remind yourself to follow up with people you have met.
4. The last tool I use is called www.justunfollow.com.  Twitter only allows you to follow people up to a certain ratio so if you are following more people than people that follow you, you can use this tool to stop following people who are not following you back.

I hope these tips are helpful to you in using Twitter to build your network marketing business. If you have other tips or tools on how you use Twitter please leave me a comment below.  I recently gave a talk on a call on this same subject, it is basically the same information in this article but more specific to the company I am with. If you would rather listen to this information you can check it out here, there are some other great speakers with helpful information on the call.  Remember you can take this information and apply it to really any network marketing company you are with.

If this post was helpful to you I always appreciate you sharing it with your friends on the Twitter, Facebook or your favorite social network.
