Why Your Money Mindset Matters in Business

Money Mindset Matters

money mindset

When I first got started in online marketing there was a product my company sold that was the path to residual income in the business.  I had a bad attitude about it and actually kind of saw it as a rip off and way too costly.  With a money mindset like that you can probably guess how much of that product I sold.  Yeah, not a lot, my sales of that product were bleak. Do you think my bad attitude about it was attracting people to my team who were excited about it and wanted to sell it?  Heck no!    My attitude has since shifted and now I understand what an incredible value it is rather than having the mindset that the company is just trying to get money out of me or rip me off.

It is interesting how your money mindset can totally affect your business.  You are going to attract people to you that have the same money mindset as you do.  So if you are not willing to invest in your business you are setting that same standard for your team and prospects.  I wanted to share a few ways to shift your money mindset to create a positive impact on your business.

Here are 3 ways to shift your money mindset in your business

  • Treat your business as an investment

I have run into people that think that putting money into their business is wasting money.  They say they will spend money once they have money coming in but sometimes you have to invest money to get the cash flowing.

You have understand that investing money is just a cost of doing business.  This is an important part of your money mindset because it is easy to struggle with spending money on your business.   I think there are things that you need to be willing to invest in like systems, training and personal development.

If you are nickle and dimming your business you are setting a precedent for your team and you will get team members and prospects that have the same money mindset.    If you want to be a good role model for your team you can’t be afraid to invest in the right things for your business.

  • Figure out a budget and what sacrifices you might have to make as you build your business

If you have read about my story you know that I believe in having a budget and not going into debt to get your online business going.  To invest in your business you might have to make some sacrifices in your own life and personal spending.    For instance, what would cutting out eating out save you that you could apply to your business?  Maybe you could cut out cable or a family vacation to be able to make an investment.  I think making sacrifices in the short term is well worth it to create a long term, stable business.

  • Set up a daily plan of action and figure out the steps you need to take to cover your business expenses

I think it is easy to shift your money mindset when you have clearly defined a plan of action.  If you know you have certain business expenses it is easy to lay out what steps you need to take to make the revenue to cover those expenses. An added benefit, having a plan of action will bring you focus in your business.

You set the standard for those who follow you with your money mindset.  What you believe you will attract.

Don’t Just Go For Easy

We are a microwave society and it seems we are programmed to just go for the easy, quick fix.  Everyone wants convenience and for things to happen quickly and it seems as everywhere you look that is the advertising message we see like , “lose weight fast” or “make money now.”

Taking the easy way will not challenge you or help you improve.  I recently started training for a 10K, I was not a runner before training for this race.  When I would see a choice of a flat path or a path with some sort of hill I would go for the flat path.  The flat path was the easy way and did not challenge me to get better.  It did not build up my strength or help me to become a better runner.

Taking the easy way often means we are taking shortcuts.  In the long run shortcuts are not beneficial.   I go back to the idea of losing weight for an example.  When you try to lose weight quickly it is not healthy and it is not sustainable for the long run.  When you lose weight by taking short cuts it is a short term solution.

As Maya Angelou said, “All great achievements require time.”  Remember not to just go for easy.  Be willing to put in the effort and the time and you will reap the rewards.

Get in An Environment That Will Help You Thrive

Thrive

Sometimes life’s greatest lessons come from the strangest places.
I learned an interesting fact about sharks today and it is a great analogy
for our personal growth and development.

What I learned is that sharks are very adaptable and grow
to a size that is only as big as their surroundings allow.
When a shark is put into a tank it will only grow to a
size appropriate for that space.  A shark in a small tank
may only be inches long fully developed.  Now put a shark
in an ocean and it has space to grow, there is nothing
limiting the size it can grow.

I think this is similar to how some humans never seem to do much
while some people thrive and create an amazing life. If we choose
environments that don’t challenge us, keep us in our comfort zone
and surround ourselves with people who don’t build us up we will stay small.

If we choose to expand our horizons and do things that challenge us,
get ourselves out of our comfort zone and surround ourselves
with people who will push us there is no limiting how big we can grow.

So what environment are you choosing?
Are you staying in places that will keep you small or are you willing
to get in a environment that will help you thrive?

To living life by design!

5 Easy Time Management Strategies

Time Management Strategies

Time Management Strategies

There is no denying in the truth of the saying, “Time is gold.”

You never seem to get enough of time. Even if you are given thirty hours in a day, you still won’t be able to get enough of it. Somehow, some things will come up and you will end up wanting more time. Time is a precious commodity. Once it’s gone, it cannot be recovered.

The fact is: when you are busy, time flies swiftly. But when you are not, time seems to be at a stand still. This is true when you are killing time because there is nothing else to do under the circumstances.

How do you maximize the use of your time?

Consider the 5 following time management strategies:

1. Check your schedule at the start of the day. Review it in its entirety. You may notice that portions of your day may be hectic, while some may not be too frenzied. Distribute your activities evenly throughout the day.

Keep note pads handy so you can keep track of your schedule. It also helps to remind you of your tasks and commitments. Note pads and schedule notebooks help you avoid overlapping of activities. In case of overlaps, determine which one is priority.

After spreading your schedule for the day and you still feel overwhelmed by the number of tasks to be accomplished, you may have to reschedule or eliminate some of them. You may need to look at your activities and learn what you need to put on your, “to don’t list.”

What you are actually doing when you are using this as one of your time management strategies is very much like cleaning a closet. When your closet is in order, you avoid being accidentally hit on the head by falling objects upon opening its door. Also, if it is in order, you will likely find spare spaces available.

2. Request for a re-schedule in advance. This is especially true when another person will be affected. Show courtesy by doing this is advance. This leaves time for the person to adjust to the new schedule. Who knows? You may be doing the other parties a favor. They may be in the same predicament as you are, and they will not be aware unless you make it known to them.

3. Be creative with your time management strategies. Time is an element where simple creativity can be put to practice. For example, you need to do the laundry but at the same time, you also have to rush and buy some groceries. Perhaps, what you can do is to set your washing machine to do the laundry while you step out to the grocers. Manage your time in the grocery and back home, just in time when the laundry is done. All it takes is scheduling and a little creativity.

4. When you have to do a certain task for the first time, it is natural for mistakes to happen. However, a first time task doesn’t have to be a blunder. If there is no clear direction on how things should be done, take time to plan it out before you take action. This saves time, energy, and money.

5. Visualize the possible outcome of your objective. Seek out alternatives. Choose the better of two or more alternatives. If there is only one option, do it just the same. Some tasks may appear difficult when you think about it, but not necessarily when put into action. The same thing is true the other way around.

Time is something you could never have enough of so be sure to be conscious of your time management strategies. You become wise when you choose to maximize your time.
