suck the life out of youI was recently at a birthday party with my son and was talking to one of the moms there. She is in the same company that I got started with in Network Marketing (I’m still a part of the company for the products but no longer actively promote it.) As we talked I heard a familiar story from her.   She said, “this company is sucking the life out of me.”

The leaders of the company I am with now call this, “selling the dream and living the nightmare.”  If you are a part of the network marketing industry you see people working their butts off on the phone, 3 way calls, at hotel meetings and chasing after friends and family. Maybe there are people who have a passion for building their business this way but I have to believe they are few and far between.  I imagine most people who got involved in an online business did so to create a life of freedom, not to be a slave to their business.  Don’t get me wrong I know those methods of business building work but there are much easier, effective ways to do it.   You can create a lifestyle of freedom without giving up your life.

The best thing is if  you learn how to use systems properly not only will you work less, not only will your team duplicate bigger, not only will people have more success but you will actually work less for more income.

I myself did not realize the power of a system until I had to take a rather long break from it for house hunting, moving and dealing with a member of my family who has cancer. For a period of several months I was not able to put any significant amount of time into the business but yet the checks kept coming in and getting bigger.

When I got started online I found a successful mentor who taught me the 3 things you need for a successful business online.  The bad news is what I was taught was a lot of work and I had learn a lot of new skills and technical knowledge.  The good news is if you are looking to build a successful business online now you don’t have to go through all the things I did.  There is a simple system that will give you all the elements you need to create a successful business online if you are willing to put in the work.

  • Blog

A blog should be the hub of your activity online, the place you drive traffic to from all your other sites.  Blog matter because people can learn about you and your business in an easy and informative way, Google and the search engines love blogs because they have dynamic content and blogs give you a way to build trust with your potential customers or prospects. 

Another reason to love blogs is they are a great way to influence customers and prospects.  The Social Media Examiner recently wrote this post on new research that suggests  blogs now outrank social networks for consumer influence.

  • Lead capture page

Leads are the life blood of your business and the days are gone when buying leads made sense.  You want to be able to generate leads of your own that are interested specifically in you and what you are offering.

Lead capture pages are also important because you don’t want to just let traffic come to your site without being able to capture their information and communicate with them again.

  • auto-responder

An auto-responder is a must for a successful business online so you can stay in communication with the people who are interested in hearing from you.  It allows you to build relationships with people and it gives you leverage.

You will hear over and over that your business success is in your list.  The great thing about a list is people get a chance to know you over time so even if they were not ready to buy initially they might be ready down the road.

Blogging tools were not on my radar when I got started online.  I had I can do it myself attitude and would baulk at the idea of using blogging tools.   I was naive and mistakenly over confident.  I thought I had all the answers as to how to build a business and create a blog on my own.

3. Not testing: By not testing your sales copy and places you advertise with split testing your advertising, you will be losing sales. In fact without good sales copy you will not be able to sell effectively at all. It is critical to your business to get this right. If necessary get an experienced copywriter to do this. It is worth the investment, as you will see returns when you make sales.
The golden rule in promoting your network marketing company is  to diversify. You should always use multiple forms of marketing in your business. Do not just do one or two promotions and then wait for results. This will slow company growth and your business will stagnate.
