Amazingly Simple Ways to Transform Your Life
1. Work on figuring out your unproductive and destructive habits and replace them with good, healthy habits. One of my favorite quotes is by Charles Noble and he says, “First we make our habits, then our habits make us.” So if you allow a bad habit to continue it will start to define you in a negative way. But if you start choosing good habits it will define you in a positive way. For example if you start choosing healthy habits by eating right and exercising it will make you healthy. I will tell you that working on bad habits and replacing them with good habits had made a big difference in my life.
2. Learn to set goals. Goals will make a big difference because they will help you start moving towards the things you want in life. Brain Tracy in his book Eat That Frog said this, “Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement.” You want to be sure you set long term and short term goals to help you achieve what you want in life. I think of short term goals as the building blocks to get you to your bigger goals. So for instance if you goal is to lose 100 pounds that would be a long term goal and maybe smaller goals would be to start exercising 4 days a week.
3. Make your health and fitness a priority. Fitting in time for exercise can be a challenge sometimes and eating right is not always easy. These are things you do need to work on if you want to make a difference in your life. If fitness is a priority you will find time for it and it should be a priority because without health you really don’t have anything else. When you feel good and are healthy you sleep better, your mind functions better and you can give a lot more to whatever you do. As one of my favorite quotes says, “Those who do not find time for exercise will have to find time for illness.”
- Earl of Derby
4. Make written to do lists daily. I can’t great this has been to transform my life and my productivity. I fought this one for a while because I thought I knew what I need to accomplish in my mind. Then I would have days that I would simply waste time because I could not think of what I needed to do next. Having a to do list that I check often has changed that and made me so much more productive and made a huge difference in my life. The way I learned to make awesome to do lists and to make them work for me was through Chalene Johnson’s Free 30 day push challenge. This will make such a huge difference for you if you apply what she teaches. Check out the challenge here-www.30daypush.com
5. Learn to embrace change. Change is something that is not always easy. We all get comfortable with the way things are and don’t want to step out of our comfort zone. That being said change is something that is inevitable and we can either embrace it or fight it. When you can learn to embrace change you can make a big difference in your life. Change is what helps us to push ourselves and improve our lives. When I learned to embrace change is when I noticed a big difference in my life. As Anthony Robbins says, “If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.”
6. Take time for rejuvenation. Taking time for yourself to relax and rejuvenate will make a big difference in your life. We all lead busy lives and sometimes we end up as the lowest priorities on our lists. When you can make time to rejuvenate by doing something simple as giving yourself a quite half an hour to read, taking a bath or getting out and talking a nice long walk you will feel refreshed and it will make a big difference.
7. Keep learning. Learning should be an unending process, it is easy to give up on learning after we are done with school. One of my favorite motivational speakers and authors Jim Rohn says that the best money you can spend is on your self-education. He says that if you see the homes of the most successful people they have libraries in them. I know for me to work on continual learning has really made a huge difference.
8. Stop sweating the small stuff. “Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today or its job.” This quote by Leo Buscaglia is one to be very mindful of. It is very easy to let worry creep in to our lives and if you can stop worrying and especially over little things you can make a big difference in your life. I know, I grew up with a Mom who worried all the time and thus turned me into a worry wart. Spending your life worrying is not a fun way to live and gets you in one bad cycle. I have found that the less I worry the more I am actually able to enjoy life. It is not easy to completely eliminate worry but the more worry you eliminate the more you will make a difference in your life.
9. Learn to be grateful. Being grateful is such a simple way to transform your life. When you make a shift from always wanting something to being grateful for everything you have you will be amazed at what happens in your life. This can be a major shift in thinking if you are someone who has a hard time being satisfied with what you have. You can start by being appreciative of just the smallest things in your life and slowly shift your mindset.
10. Take time to listen to others. When you listen to others you find that you can learn a lot. I know that most of us just want to talk and be heard but we really need to learn to listen. When you listen you need to make sure you are really concentrating on active listening rather than doing a million things at once and only kind of listening. One of my favorite Proverbs in the bible says, “Don’t talk so much. You keep putting your foot in your mouth. Be sensible and turn off the flow.” I also have heard some people use this great phrase, “God gave you 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason.”
Now it is your turn. What are some amazingly simple ways you have transformed your life? Leave a comment for me below.

Angela, this is a great checklist of the ingredients for a successful life. I personally am committed to practicing gratitude and lifelong learning. Fitness is going well: I have been using the P90X workout system, and am running my first marathon this year! What I am focused on this year is learning how to take more time for relationships and rejuvination. Love your blog!

Enjoyable article Angela and great advice. I especially appreciate your comments about writing down goals. That was a tough one for me as well, until I read an article in Psychology Today that stated people who write their goals are 300% more likely to achieve them. I like those odds!

Hi Angela ~ Every single one of these points are so important, and for me personally, numbers 6 – 10 REALLY resonated!! Along my life’s journey, I have learned that just about most things out there are the “small stuff”…no use getting all bent out of shape about something that is insignificant in the bigger picture, and that there are so many wonderful things I am most grateful for in my life…listening to others, ah, that I believe is why we have two ears and one mouth

What a great list. You could probably take each one of these items and make then into a blog post. Hope your business is going well, I have not seen you around TSA in a while. Maybe we are just never in the same group. I think I remember you saying you were in horticulture before this. You might like some of my recent posts. One about Borrowed Views and another about Follies. Hmmm, or maybe I am mixed up. It could have been somebody else that told me that. So many people. Enjoyed the post.

Some great tips here…gems from Tony Robbins and Brian Tracy…great leaders with insightful clues on how to live an abundant life.
I really need to get down to writing lists again, I was so much more effective when I did so.
I agree with Micole, think you have got the headlines from some great future content in this post.
Looking forward to hearing more about you in TSA..

This is so good that I took notes! Thanks, Angela, for reminding me of these things again! The “to do list” is definitely a life saver for me. I feel like I have so much going on in this ADD brain that it is imperative that I make a list. Also, revisiting my goals — both long term and short term. I will be right on that! And, being grateful and worry free… it also says in the Bible how worrying cannot add one inch to your life (and in fact may even make it shorter!) Thanks again, Angela!
God bless!

These are good points. I see a couple I need to work on. Sweating the small stuff. That’s one I find myself doing too much. I also need to get exercise into my routine more consistently. ; )

All of the list is great but the two that caught my attention the most are Listen to Others and Embrace Change.
Others are a tremendous resource for us and they are right at our finger tips. Everyone we encounter will add a new dimension to our existence if we will only let them.
Embrace Change, especially these days, is the best way to get through uncertain times. Everywhere we turn something that was tried and true is no longer the standard. The one thing we can be certain of is change and embracing it eliminates upset.
Thanks,

Hi Angela:
You’ve posted some very straight forward and easy to implement steps for creating change. Change is so important to growth and even though we often fear change, it is often the single most effective factor for creating tremendous growth both in our lives as a whole and in business. I especially resonate with your quote “First we make our habits, then our habits make us” which speaks to being entirely responsible for creating exactly what we want in life. ~ Loren

Angela,
I really like this post! Breaking it down to a check list helps me to quickly assess where I’m at, what I’m doing and where I need to improve. My area of needed improvement right now is to write written to do lists daily! I do really well for a while then let it slack! When I missed an appointment this morning I realized if I’d have written a to do list last night or even this morning I would have caught that!
Thank you for the reminder!

I totally agree with this and you have a great insights Angela. I’m glad I’m doing the rights ways to transform my life. Me? Whenever I feel stuck, stressed or unproductive…I take a break and do a few exercises to clear my mind and “reboot” my system. And of course we need to have a positive mindset that will certainly play a integral part in achieving our desired results with the plans we have ahead.

Hey Angela,
Thx for outlining these 10 steps so brilliantly. These are definitely points that can transform you from a current mindset to a higher level. What I embrace almost on a daily level is point 7. Keep on learning the stuff you need to become successful… That’s something I was told very early in the process of building my business and I have made it a main concern when connecting with new business partners. Alone this skill helpped me to become a leader for whom people look at to be connected with.
Thx again for this great list…

A couple of great tips Angela, its hard to keep organized as much as one should be and some times motivation can lack for one reason or another and the more and more time I spend online I have found I am always learning something a tip here or a trick there and as entrepreneurs we have to learn to grow and evolve and leverage our time and skills, and try to avoid information overload.

Great list Angela. I totally agree with everything written in here but I really do find No. 9 crucial. . It’s all about gratitude and appreciation. If a person is not happy with the things he has, nothing will make him happy (because as soon as he gets it, he is focused on something else that he does not have). And No. 10 as well, yeah we must listen to others always and appreciate them. My grandmother always used to say “You have two ears, one mouth. Listen twice as much as you talk!”
I find it hard to listen more than I talk, but when I manage to it always works better for me.

Wow, I am happy to say that I’ve done many of the things on your list. Your first tip really resonated with me — replacing bad, unproductive habits with good ones.
Just about 4 years ago, I was a mess physically. I was 60 lbs overweight, many lingering physical problems and had no desire to do anything except go to work. I made the decision to change and get my life in order. I dropped those 60 lbs (easier said than done!) and decided to start a home business on the side, after my full time job. This gave me a renewed purpose and a feeling of moving forward to great things in my life.
Thanks for the great ideas in your post!

Hi Angela,
If we are short on any one of these Life Transforming ways, getting back on course will make
a huge difference. You have listed very key elements to success.
I happen to have a family member who is many times short on the gratefulness.
She sets high standards for herself, and then I believe expects others to have the same
standards that she does. Achievers often do this, so it is important that we take time to be
truly grateful.
Oh, and the Listening is another shortcoming of another family member…She is quick, and thinks
she already knows what you are saying–sometimes she does, and that is cool, but other times this
is not the case, and I don’t think she even realizes it…
Great lessons here! Thanks! Linda

Great post, Angela! You are so right about the need for setting goals and intermediate goals. My wife and I have been working on losing weight over the last seven months, and we set intermediate five-pound goals and we get to go to a restaurant we’ve been wanting to go to as a reward to keep us from going off the deep end. Combined, over the last seven months, we have lost 48 pounds! Intermediate goals will ultimately get you to your final destination, and they will keep you motivated as you get closer.

You touched on some key points in this article but three really stood out to me: “Learn to embrace change”, “Keep learning” and “Learn to be grateful.” I have met with who will accept mediocrity just because it is familiar and their fear of the unknown is very strong. Keep learning is important because life we should strive to be perpetual students understanding that there is always more to learn and lasting being grateful is very important because I’ve learned from experience until you appreciate what you have, you will never be given more.

Hi Angela,
Very interesting article. I like your “keep learning”. I didn’t realise that it is so important to keep learning, it helps us to grow in every moment of our life. I will follow your advice.
“Learn to be grateful” – I find it interesting. We need to be humble and grateful for everything we receive in our life.
Thanks.

Hi Angela,
this is a great list I especially enjoy stop sweating over small stuff.
I think that women in business often are perfectionists and this creates more stress than anything else.
We need to learn to attract easily what we want by being in the flow and having the right mindset to listen, learn resolve and go to the next level.

Angela,
If I was writing a blog about ways to transform your life, I would choose many of your points.
First, I love Brian’s book Eat that Frog! I believe health and fitness are a key to improving your life. A daily task list is vitally important. Embracing change helps you embrace the future. Continuing to learn, not fretting the small stuff in life and being grateful for everything are vitally important to improve your life!
