Amazing Lessons You Can Learn From Millionaires
If you take time to listen and are willing to spend time talking with people who are where you want to be you can learn some amazing things. If you want to get somewhere in life sometimes you have to learn from the people who have walked the path before you and are at the destination you want to be. When you get the chance to meet those people who are where you want to be I would say shut up and listen, soak in all the knowledge that they will share. See what they have done and if you can pick their brain for tips that might be helpful for you. I was recently able to meet and chat with a women who is in a position I am working towards in my life. We had a phenomenal chat and I was left some pearls that helped me and will surely help you in business and life.
Here are some great things I learned when talking with her.
Be a million dollar thinker. Most people get caught up in the “how” to do something. When they don’t have the answers they start second guessing and sabotaging themselves from the start. Million dollars thinkers do not operate that way. Once they make a decision they look for the solutions. They create a vision and a plan.
Make sure your goals are congruent with your top 3 values in life. I love this one. How many times have you been presented an opportunity and the only thing the person could tell you is how much money you”re going to make? For example, some people might not be successful in the real estate foreclosure market because they would feel like they were taking advantage of people during hard times. However, another person in that exact situation might view themselves as being an advisor to someone who would otherwise lose their home and get nothing from it. As you can see it’s the same situation but each person has a different value system. This is not about right or wrong. You simply want to be clear about your personal values and make sure your business is in alignment.
Even when you”re down to your last twenty dollars you could be one idea away from success. Have you ever been at a fork in the road and had to make a decision? I know I have. For me, I knew I was working doing something that was just not right for me and I was stressed, depressed and got sick. After being on a job that was making me sick I had come to my breaking point. I knew them I too had a decision to make and needed to come up with a Plan B.
Make yourself a personal promise. Many times people are not just afraid of failure but success. As a result, they are paralyzed by fear and never reach their potential. In the interview my friend talked about how on a sticky note she would write ONE thing she would do that day before she went to bed. Some days it would be a big task and other times it would be a small action but still moving her towards success. Is there something you have wanted to achieve but are afraid to step on faith? What if you took just a small step today toward that very goal? Pick up a packet of sticky notes and the next time you feel afraid just take one small step. If it worked for this millionaire it can work for you.
Expect that it will happen. There is a saying that you get what you expect in life. When you have an expectation to succeed it is amazing how things start changing for you. Now the trick is you don’t want to be attached to the process. Commit result to the result and be open to allowing the beauty of intention and synchronicity to work in your favor. Don’t try to control the journey just embrace it.
Build your business for the future. This lesson should be a mantra that is taught for any new entrepreneur. So many people start off simply focusing on how they are going to create income. Don’t get me wrong this is important too. However, if you end up a millionaire with no time, poor health, and no friends or family to share it with would this be success for you? Only you can answer that. However, the truth is you are better off knowing where you want to end up so you know how to design the map to get there. You want to considerate your lifestyle first and design your business around it.
So ask yourself a few questions:
a. How many hours a day to you want to work?
b. Are you willing to work weekends?
c. How much net profit do you want to make each year?
d. How many weeks or months of vacation will you take each year?
e. Will you work when you travel?
The more clearly you define what success in your business will look like in the future the easier it is to ask the right questions to help you get there.
Collaborate your way to success. For many people who have let the politics, back biting and brown nosing of corporate America get to them, it is great to relish the idea of being able to create an empire alone. While on the surface this both looks and feels good the truth is that you can only accomplish so much alone. It is a new paradigm is the way we do business…the virtual company. The concept includes strategic alliances, out team mates and one the most important players the virtual assistant. This person can do things from make travel arrangements, appointments, book-keeping, taxes, update websites, write or edit presentations and almost any other project you can think of. The lesson here is, focus on your strengths and collaborate with others to aid you in achieving your goal?
What does your business need to go to the next level?
Who could you collaborate with to make it happen?
If you want to learn lessons that will add to your bottom-line and your life be sure to spend some time studying the people who have gone before you. They have lots of wisdom to share and if you can get them to chat with you they can be a great resource for you.
I would love to hear what you have learned from spending time with someone who has accomplished what you are looking to accomplish. Leave me a comment below and share that with me.

Great post Angela! I so like being around people who are further along the curve than I am because it makes me push just a little harder. In fact when I used to run, I always preferred running with a partner that was faster than I was because they pushed me to for farther, faster.

Hi Angela,
Great article Angela! There are definitely trends that you can pick up on if you look at the successful people around us. We have to learn as much as possible, put the knowledge into action and be sure to keep trying, even when it gets tough.
Thanks for the great tips!

What a great post Angela. I want to comment specifically on the “Expect that it will happen”. It is so easy to get to that place of disbelief, especially if we have some negative people around us or we buy into our own suggestions because the results are not here yet.
I’ve learned from one of my mentors that “RESULTS TAKE AS LONG AS THEY TAKE” and if we want to think like millionaires we have to focus on doing and being who we can possibly be vs. interrupting ourselves, which we all do by default but then with awareness we can also remind ourselves to get back on track, do the inner and outer work, enjoy the journey and don’t let anything discourage us( well maybe for just a little bit, so we can process and re-choose again).
Thanks for taking the time to write this post. Much appreciated.

What is Inspiration?
And where does it lead us. Why is the “inspirational advice” of a millionaire sort after so much? If we’re honest it is because we too (i include myself) long for monetary success.
So more important than finding “inspiration” is where is that inspiration leading us. What is it offering? What does it promise.

Hey Angela,
Great information! I could not agree with you more – finding a mentor who can show you the way is one of the best ways to leverage your business. No matter what you want to accomplish, if you can pick the brain of someone who has already done it, this is invaluable and can cut your learning curve in half or more.
I like your point on collaboration. To me, this is one of the fastest shortcuts to success. Why? Because you’re leveraging the reach and expertise of others in a win-win situation. I try to collaborate at every opportunity. Being a Part Time Marketer, it’s become one of my secret recipes to success.
Thanks for the great post, Angela!

I love being around people who know more than me, ones who have achieved what I want to achieve. The mindset is different. The generosity is unmatched. The willingness to teach and share is prevalent. Great people to be around.
This is a super post and I’m glad you shared it.

Hi Angela, great post. It’s good to be around people who’ve already become successful, it makes a huge difference to your mindset. If we hang around people who are negative and critical all the time, it’s really difficult to move forward and forget what they are saying. It kind of rubs off!

Collaboration – the mindset of a millionaire! I can 100% agree with the importance of realizing that being a “solopreneur” does not mean you should work solo! Find others who can provide the missing pieces: it’s more fun, more productive, and has far greater potential for long-term profit.

Wow Angela,
This is a really amazing post. I too believe it is important to learn from those who are further ahead of us on the path to success, it is equally as important to not surround ourselves with people who are the exact opposite and can drain us of our dreams.
I would like to think that I think like a millionaire (try saying that when you have had too much champagne!) Mindset is everything and helps propel us forward to where we are heading.
Thanks again,

Certainly an excellent place to start! I always love to see what people do so I can learn from them. I like your list and think that although it is great to see what the “experts” do the most important is to make a deal with yourself and do it ( for me that is).. I can tell many others what I am going to do, but it comes down to whether or not I do it! Great post, Angela.

Way to go Angela! this is valuable information because MINDSET is crucial in one’s ability to succeed!
You are right, the best and fastest way to success is to find someone that’s doing or living the life that you want for yourself and ask them to mentor you!
The most successful people are the ones who don’t mind sharing their stories to help another person along the way!

I really like the part of making sure your business lines up with your core, personal values. That is so important for staying motivated and moving forward.
I also like your recommendation of writing one think on a post it note every day. It doesn’t matter whether we take large or small step toward our dream. But it is essential that we keep moveing.

This is indeed one of the posts that needs to be read by everyone. ” Be a million dollar thinker “, in one of the books that I read, just like on your post it is important to believe and claim that it will happen.. Inspiring!

Hi Angela,
Very inspiring post! Make your business like your only source of living and you will surely do whatever it takes to make it on top. In today’s world of business, having a good network of friends and connection is a vital ingredient for success in any business. Great read, cheers!

Great post, Angela! You are so right about the need to listen to your moral compass. I had a similar conversation to the one you mentioned about real estate foreclosure. I watched a webinar on real estate, and they explained tax deeds and tax liens. I felt uncomfortable about tax liens because it seemed to me like profiting off of someone’s misfortune (and I was reminded of that thought three months later when reading Think and Grow Rich where Napoleon Hill says that every business should operate in terms of justice and for the benefit of all), but that tax liens, especially because almost all of the liens are redeemed and this is money counties need to fund schools was something I could do. When I pointed this out to the person doing the follow-up call, he seemed shocked and pointed out the higher profit margin of tax deeds. I pointed out to him that I just couldn’t do it because it didn’t seem right to me. I think that was the first time he’d ever heard of moral considerations in business, which is a sad comment indeed.

Hi Angela, many great points here. I particularly notice the one about how most people get caught up in the “how” to, then start second guessing and sabotaging themselves. This does come in large part from lack of confidence in what they are doing to begin with. It’s stepping out, making a decision, and going for it without reservation that brings success.

Hi Angela, I loved reading your post and I’m pleased to have found you.
The two parts I enjoyed the most were ‘shutting up and listening” and not letting the ‘fear of failure’ sabotage your actions.
I agree, successful people just get down to it.
We should all learn from their experience especially if they are already where we want to be.
Thanks for the inspiring read.

Great post Angela. I especially like the ‘be a billion dollar thinker’ paragraph. ‘Most people get caught up in the “how” to do something. When they don’t have the answers they start second guessing and sabotaging themselves from the start.’ so true….

Great post Angela. I have always been a great believer of taking advise from people who are where you want to be.. ONLY people you will be willing to be in their position. That is why it is always puzzling when I hear folks saying I cannot do XYZ because my best friend think or Auntie Sue tried and it did not work for her. I always recommend to find someone who “it” has worked for. It is a great idea to find a mentor and be willing to put in the work to achieve success.

Excellent ideas, here, Angela.
I think the most difficult mindset for most people to adhere to is to “expect” success. It’s easy to say you expect success, but to really expect it involves a deep assurance of the inevitability of achieving what you are putting into motion. It’s not just a conscious act of stating your expectation, it’s a subconscious conditioning of really believing it.
Once you’ve reached that level of conviction and confidence, your success will happen.

With anything you want to accomplish it’s best to go to someone who has accomplished it. Just last week I was introduced to a great magician. I sat down and listened, wow what a wealth of knowledge and skill this man has. One of the BIG things is you have to LISTEN, sometimes we are so eager to learn we can’t be quiet!!

I whole-heartedly agree with everything that you say in this article. This past year, Rich and I have been blessed to work with and mastermind with several 7 and 8 figure earners. Our income has increased tremendously as a result.
It wasn’t that the folks we masterminded with had fairy dust or anything, we just did exactly what you suggest- LISTEN. Then we took what we learned and implemented it!
One of the best pieces of advice that we received from our mentor and business partner Ann Sieg was that to scale up your business, you must systematize things that you would do more than once. It wasn’t easy to deconstruct all that Rich and I do on a daily basis for our business in order to train our assistant, but we did it and now won’t have to worry about reinventing the wheel again!

Angela,
Spending time associating with others who have figured out their own success plan and have something to share is an excellent opportunity to grow and learn. I really enjoy masterminding with people like this and sharing my time with like-minded individuals.
Synergy occurs when individuals get together and work towards common goals and group success, or when you study and leverage the knowledge from those that have created success in their life.
Great post and Great Thoughts,

If you were to ask me to choose my favourite from the list above, I couldn’t do it. They are all key points! But then, that’s probably why she’s a millionaire.
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned from my millionaire friends is that you CAN give away a LOT for free… i.e. things that cost you time and energy, not necessarily money… and you will be the winner in the long run.

Trying to “go it alone” or do everything yourself is a big problem for many people trying to make their way in online business. Taking advantage of the experience and skills of others is a big step in the right direction – and one which many never seem to take unfortunately.

Not working for the future in mind can really be costly. I see business owners get so caught up with current little successes, they fail to work beyond that to the bigger successes. It can be a disappointment, especially if the little success is one that does not last long.
